Australia – Update: Freedom of Speech threat

Australia has a very real threat to its freedom of speech. There is turmoil at the present time because of the introduction of legislation that is not in the inerests of the country.

It is possible that the government will not get the numbers to pass this totalitarian effort.

  1. EGYPT STATUS AND QUESTIONS

Below is an interesting small article about Egypt. In addition, Rand Paul (at CPAC) has just made a strong plea (demand!?) to stop wasting money on Egypt. On one hand, he is right – I certainly get very puckered about giving money to our enemies – especially when we are in debt and just have to borrow the money (from China?!). On the other hand, USA has a long history of buying friendships and alliances rather then threats or subjugation – and that is certainly a morally superior position.

We certainly don’t want Egypt becoming in thrall to even more or deeper enemies, but will ‘buying’ them really make them our friends or just waste our money. I am every day becoming stronger convinced that economics do not sway Muslims. Positive (giving aid) or negative (sanctions) persuasion seems to have zero effect whatsoever. They seem not to care about economic prosperity, just about Jihad and Caliphate.

Which leads to the conclusion that we should disengage with all Muslim countries, declare them as “non desirables” and just marginalize them. Is that the only way forward? SIGH.

But what do we do about their Nuclear Capabilities – existing (e.g. Pakistan) or emergent (e.g. Iran)?

And then what do we do about The Obama? He actually FAVORS Muslims and Islamic culture. God Almighty!

    ———————————

QATAR REFUSES TO BAIL OUT EGYPT. WILL OBAMA STEP IN? WILL RUSSIA? WILL CHINA????

QATAR WON’T BE THROWING ANY MORE MONEY INTO THE MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD MONEY PIT.

AND THE IMF WANTS AUSTERITY MEASURES WHICH THE MB WON’T AGREE TO.

WHO’S LEFT? CHINA? RUSSIA? IRAN? OBAMA?

WHAT WILL EGYPT BECOME WHEN THEY RUN OUT OF FOOD AND FUEL? WHAT WILL EGYPT BECOME WHEN THE ARMY AND POLICE RUN OUT OF FOOD AND FUEL?

MY MONEY IS ON CHINA. THEY CAN TURN EGYPT INTO A MIDDLE EASTERN VERSION OF NORTH KOREA. AND THEY GOT THE BENJAMINS….

    • The purpose of the original reason for giving aid to Egypt was indeed associated with stopping Russia’s influence.

The Ba’aath party were always influenced by Russia and Marxism.

I have not got all the facts in front of me, but prior to Anwar Sadat Egypt was pushing towards Russia. The USA took the opportunity to move them away from Russian influence.

I have always argued based upon sphere of influence.

As regards Rand Paul, well I am not convinced by him because he is too much like his father, and when it comes to foreign policy he would sell out the USA.

Otherwise I think you are right, Muslims are not swayed by economics, they just think it is their right to take our money because they think they are superior to the rest of us.

  2. Carlyle, I will have to give the whole subject a lot of thought. I continue to be caught up in Australian politics for the time being. It is now at a very interesting stage and I hope that we will get our election sooner rather then later.

The issues that you raise are very important and I think that none of us can shirk the subject.

Iran with nuclear weapons is a nightmare. The fact that Qatar will not fund Egypt is interesting. Qatar is very radical when it comes to Muslim fundamentalism.

I will note here that once again Libya is in the news with Christians being attacked in Benghazi. It is obvious who the attackers might be…. and the new regime needs to send clearer signals that such attacks will not be tolerated. The Salafists are behind those attacks.

Egypt will remain a basket case so long as Morsi remains President. The man is a disaster and he does not have the skills to get Egypt moving.

What we do not want is for either Russia or China to gain influence in Egypt.

However, I will have to develop my thoughts on the matter.
