Calling all Mouseketeers, it seems that one of the most popular members of the cast of the Mickey Mouse club, Annette Funicello has passed away. In my younger years the Mickey Mouse club was very popular on the TV, and I think I did not miss too many episodes :).
At the same time, it is with some sadness that I note the passing of Dame Margaret Thatcher, the Iron Lady, the result of a stroke.
Dame Margaret Thatcher was Prime Minister at a time when the world was attempting to recover from Stagflation. Some very hard decisions had to be made and she was able to make them, leading to her own lack of popularity at the end of her career. Thatcher managed to break the backs of some of the worst unions in Great Britain. However, she became very unpopular when she tried to introduce a poll tax. One other very big event during her time as Prime Minister was winning the war against Argentina over the Falkland Islands…. even today tensions remain simmering, although the people of the Falkland Islands want to remain with the UK and not be a part of Argentina.
I have happy memories of Annette Funicello because she was very good with everything that she did.
