The IRS scandal is not going away and Lois Lerner remains the leading lady in the story of how the IRS tried to take down the TEA movement. The latest in the scandal is the release of emails directly tying in the motivations fo Lois Lerner to the conspiracy against the TEA movement.
What has this got to do with the Citizens’ United decision? Actually quite a lot. If you remember that case, the decision did a couple of things (1) it reversed some previous decisions on campaign funding; and (2) it partially over-turned the McCain-Feingold legislation relating to donations by corporations.
It was the second part that got the Democrat operatives spitting chips, hopping mad, and well simply farting all over the place because this decision actually struck down the need to have a complicated PAC system for campaign donations. It was supposed to be treating corporations like people BUT that is not strictly true. All it really did is make it easier for American corporations to donate to campaigns as they have done in the past. The restrictions on foreign corporations remained but you would never have known that point if you relied upon the US press for the truth of the matter.
Lois Lerner was motivated by the outcome of the Citizens’ United case in how she began to deal with the TEA movement. It should be remembered here that the Citizens United case was in fact a decision relating to the FEC because it was the FEC that was attempting to stop Citizens United from airing a documentary about Hillary Clinton. This was in fact a loss for Lois Lerner.
As a Democrat operative, Lois Lerner saw the Citizens’ United decision as one that infringed upon the activities of the DNC in raising campaign funds as well as allowing the RNC to gather in extra funds. She had been stung by the outcome of the Citizens’ United case, and she saw the applications by the TEA movement as a way of taking the issue back to the court. Yes, that is what she was thinking!!
This is a portion of the emails that Lerner had sent out”
“Tea Party Matter very dangerous… Counsel and Judy Kindell need to be in on this one… Cincy should probably NOT have these cases,” Lerner said in a February 2011 email, despite the fact that IRS officials initially claimed that the agency’s Cincinnati office was solely responsible for the improper targeting of tea party and conservative groups.
“Perhaps the FEC will save the day,” Lerner said in an email, responding to a complaint the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee registered with the Federal Elections Commission. The IRS and FEC reportedly collaborated on tea party targeting.
The fact that she tried to control the cases in the first place points to how Lois Lerner intended to use them within the court system. She was attempting to deny these groups their right to operate and at the same time she was attempting to use them to overturn the decisions made in the Citizens’ United case.
How can anyone forget the shameful manner of Barry Soetoro at the State of the Nation address when he chewed out the members of the USCC? That is just another reason to think that Barry knew all about this particular conspiracy.
